Meet your therapist

Beginning therapy often starts with a pause - a moment to notice what’s been weighing on us and stirring questions, uncertainty, or a quiet wish for something to feel different.

I’m Grace Penman, a counsellor and psychotherapist offering online counselling across Australia.

I believe each person carries an inner wisdom, even when life has made it feel distant or hard to trust. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, navigating anxiety or overthinking, or feeling disconnected from their own voice, especially after a long period of adapting, coping, or putting others first.

My work is grounded in an understanding of how culture, relationships, and past experiences can quietly influence how we see ourselves and move through the world. Having lived across different cultures, I’m mindful of how identity and belonging can be shaped by different expectations, environments, and lived experiences.

I work with many clients from mixed-cultural and immigrant backgrounds, as well as those who feel caught between different expectations, values, or ways of being. These experiences are often deeply personal, and we take time to explore them with care and respect.

I work in a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive way, integrating EMDR, parts work, and mindfulness-based somatic approaches. Therapy with me is about listening closely to what’s present, understanding patterns with compassion, and gently reconnecting with parts of yourself that may have been silenced, doubted, or overlooked.

For those who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in Mandarin, I also offer sessions in Mandarin (中文).
